The Green Awards program, initiated by the Quezon City Government, aims to recognize and reward outstanding, innovative, and inclusive projects and best practices in Climate Action and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, as implemented by barangays, youth organizations, and businesses. Launched on May 23, 2023, this program provided a platform for participants to showcase their noteworthy projects and best practices. The submission of entries began on June 16 and continued with rigorous field validations and evaluations by the local government’s technical working group, concluding in September 2023.
The culmination of this program took place on October 6, 2023, at Novotel Manila, Araneta City, where Sunproperties Development Corporation was honored with two special awards for their proposed projects.
Special Citation Award in Climate Action
In the Green Awards Category, Sunproperties Development Corporation received the Special Citation Award in Climate Action for their exceptional project, “SDC 3G: GROW, GLOW GO BAG.” This visionary project transforms tenant-generated waste into a source of urban farming joy, utilizing the revenue from crop sales to provide “GO BAGS” – essential kits with supplies needed during earthquakes and emergency evacuations.
Special Citation Award in Resilience
Sunproperties Development Corporation also received a Special Citation Award in Resilience for their project, “OPLAN TIKTO-KKK: KARUNUNGAN, KAHANDAAN AT KALIGTASAN.” This initiative leverages the popular social media platform TIKTOK to promote current best practices and activities aligned with the NDRRMC and other standards of Sunproperties Development Corporation, implemented at their owned property, Hexagon Corporate Center.
Notably, Sunproperties Development Corporation shares these recognitions with other distinguished entities receiving special citations at the event. Among them are SM Prime Holdings-SM Sta. Mesa, SMDC Sun Mall, Maynilad Water Services, and Ayala Malls Trinoma.
