GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
The Electrical and Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems and equipment within the cold storage facility. This includes refrigeration units, compressors, motors, HVAC systems, electrical distribution panels, automated controls, lighting systems, and water supply lines. The role ensures the reliable and safe operation of critical cold chain infrastructure by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting energy efficiency, and complying with safety and regulatory standards.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Duties
- Perform maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including panels, wiring, lighting, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in cold storage systems, conveyors, dock levelers, compressors, and backup generators.
- Inspect and test circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear using appropriate tools.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with Philippine Electrical Code and safety standards.
- Conduct periodic testing of emergency systems (lighting, alarms, UPS, and power backup systems).
Mechanical Duties
- Conduct maintenance and servicing of mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, compressors, valves, chillers, and air handling units.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repair or replacement of parts to avoid downtime.
- Monitor and adjust mechanical settings in refrigeration units to ensure optimal temperature control.
- Support the servicing of HVAC systems, fire suppression systems, and air compressors.
- Lubricate, align, and calibrate machines as per manufacturer specification.
Plumbing Works
- Install, repair, and maintain facility water lines, drain pipes, valves, pumps, and fixtures.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on plumbing systems to avoid leaks or water damage.
- Coordinate with contractors for specialized plumbing installations as needed.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
- Participate in the implementation of preventive maintenance schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly).
- Maintain records of maintenance tasks, service reports, and spare parts usage.
- Support emergency and corrective maintenance tasks to restore normal operations during breakdowns.
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to all electrical and mechanical safety protocols.
- Assist in the implementation of energy-saving initiatives and equipment efficiency programs.
Coordinate with Safety Officers and Engineering Supervisor on workplace hazards and safety improvements. - Maintain good housekeeping in all assigned maintenance and equipment areas.
Teamwork and Coordination
- Collaborate with refrigeration technicians, safety officers, warehouse staff, and external contractors.
- Assist during major facility shutdowns, retrofitting, or project installations.
ELIGIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical or vocational diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or Industrial Technology.
- Professional certifications (TESDA NC II/NC III in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Electrical Installation & Maintenance, or equivalent) preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration maintenance.
- Prior experience in cold storage, food manufacturing, or logistics operations is an advantage.
- Experience with MHE maintenance is a strong advantage.
- Prior experience in a cold storage, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment is highly desirable.
