The Company Driver / Helper is responsible for safely transporting company personnel, goods, or materials to and from designated locations. This role includes maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the assigned vehicle, adhering to traffic laws, and ensuring timely deliveries or pickups. The driver must also demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility, as they often represent the company in public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vehicle Inspection and Basic Maintenance
- Performs routine checks (oil, brakes, lights, tire pressure, etc.)
- Reports any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Keeps vehicle clean and presentable at all times.
Loading and Unloading
- Assists with loading and unloading goods safely and efficiently
- Ensures correct handling of fragile, heavy, or hazardous items.
- Uses appropriate equipment (e.g. dollies, straps) to secure loads.
Delivery and Pickup
- Ensures accurate and timely delivery or pickup of goods, documents, or personnel.
- Verifies delivery receipts, waybills, and signatures as needed.
- Handles items with care to prevent loss or damage.
Customer Service and Representation
- Acts professionally and courteously when dealing with clients, customers, or the public.
- Communicates delays, issues, or concerns appropriately.
- Represents the company positively while on duty.
Time Management
- Manages schedules and routes efficiently to meet deadline.
- Prioritizes multiple tasks and adapts to changing situations.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintains accurate trip logs, mileage reports, and fuel records.
- Adheres to company policies on vehicle use and documentation.
- Understands and follows health, safety, and security regulations.
Team Support and Cooperation
- Assist other staff members with tasks as needed (e.g. lifting, packing, warehouse duties)
- Works closely with dispatches, warehouse staff or logistics coordinators.
- Supports daily operational needs beyond driving duties when required.
Problem-Solving and Decision Making
- Responds calmly to unexpected issues such as breakdowns or delays.
- Makes quick, responsible decisions in urgent situations (e.g. route changes, safety concerns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Required to have a valid driver’s license appropriate for vehicle type (Class A & B)
- 2 years or more experience in driving a company vehicle to light truck
- Clean driving record with no major violation
- Knowledgeable in local routes, traffic patterns, and GPS usage.
