I’ve been through a roller coaster of experiences with too many ups and downs. Nevertheless, it was all worth it, as the saying goes, “nothing worth having comes easy.” My college life was never just a piece of cake nor was it as easy as 1-2-3, considering the fact that my father’s income is not sufficient to provide for all our needs, since he is only a tricycle driver and has to feed 5 mouths including himself.
What I did in order to help myself as well as my parents was to take on part time jobs like rendering tutorial services during my spare time especially weekends. I also worked during summers. People say it is really hard to balance work and study. Yes indeed, the balancing act is difficult but possible. There are lots of times when I felt like giving up but I have no other choice but to stay still in the midst of distress. Prayer and faith in God were my weapons during tough times. As life is all about balance, there are tough and dark moments while there are also good times.
One of my good times during my college life was when I was qualified for the Simplicio Gamboa Sr Scholarship. It gave me happiness, a joy in my heart and a glimmer of hope. I felt blessed beyond measure when I found out that I’m one of the lucky beneficiaries of this scholarship. Thank you so very much SGS Foundation! Words alone can’t express how grateful I am for all your help. You’re one of the reasons why I never forget to thank God daily. May SGS FOUNDATION help more and more needy but deserving young people. Once again, a big THANK YOU and God bless!
